Managing Anger Daily (MAD) is not just about managing anger.  A very important component is recognizing those qualities, traits, characteristics, etc., that help keep the fabric of the relationship strong and durable.  One such trait is appreciation.  Too many times I see one or both partners argue as a result of taking each other for granted.  When asked what brought them together in the first place, many say that it was the way the other person treated them or talked about them in a positive way.  Restoring or maintaining a relationship requires the inclusion of traits that helped the couple want to be with each other in the first place.  When a business is successful it is usually after hard work and doing what is necessary to restore or maintain the business.  The result, it appreciates in value.  When a business is unsuccessful it is often the result of  poor maintenance and not taking the right steps at the right time to restore it.  The result is it usually depreciates in value.  Personal relationships are no different.  You are partners together.  The math is easy, the steps necessary to help it thrive are easy as well.  However, if there is a lack of appreciation there will likely be a lack of desire by either to maintain or restore the relationship.  There are numerous ways one can let the other know they are appreciated.  If you are not sure what the other needs, ask.
